Family program 

Beyond the observation activities and excursions, the Côte-Nord Migratory Bird Festival offers original ways to discover birds

The Tadoussac Bird Observatory and QuébecOiseaux are offering several family activities. They will take place at the Maison de la mer (Explos-Nature) in Bergeronnes and at Les Dunes in Tadoussac. A small tent and banners will be installed to identify the location of the activities. 

Open to all 

Activities are open to all: families, curious, beginner or expert birders.

Reservations are made via the Eventbrite platform. The booking links are below each activity.

Face painting for children

Our volunteers will be present to dress up children and adults in the colors of the birds of the Côte-Nord.

Banding activities are essential to carry out population trend surveys and to have indications on the health of the birds captured and then released. With years of experience, our banding team is able to tell by touch what kind of bird it is. 

During this activity, we suggest that you try to guess shapes by putting your hand in the cloth bags. Can you recognize them? 

Watercolor workshop for all levels

Montreal-based illustrator RiverJune will be offering a continuous watercolor workshop next to the Dunes House. 

On September 23rd, she will attend our benefit evening at the bistro chez Mathilde where she will create a painting in real time. You will have the opportunity to ask her questions and learn from her.

The team of biologists from QuébecOiseaux will welcome you at the Maison de la Mer to show you the art of bird stripping, the precautions that are taken and its role. If you want to learn more about the art of unbanding and banding, it’s here!

Guided hikes in the natural heart of the village of Tadoussac via the Pointe de l’Islet, the beach of Tadoussac and the Anse-à-l’eau trail. This 3 kilometer long trail will surprise you!

The exhibition “Des oiseaux dans les mains” (Birds in the hands) focuses on bird banding operations and offers 12 oil paintings. 

The painting technique used is that of the great masters, called grisaille and glazes, i.e., a very thin, transparent paint that gives a particular depth to the color. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the paintings will be donated to the Tadoussac Bird Observatory.
